Explore the amazing world of mixed media! Experience textures, mediums, and new techniques. Discover surprising ways to create exciting effects! Aspects of abstract composition and what makes an abstract piece “work” will be shared. Take away four works of art and ideas for continuing the fun!

Student Supply List:

  • Five to seven – 1/2 oz. or larger bottles of Golden Fluid Acrylics in colors of your choice
  • Titanium White and Mars Black paint in a tube
  • Charcoal
  • 1 – 8 oz. bottle of Liquitex Pouring Effects Medium
  • Brushes: Bring a selection of your favorite sizes and shapes
  • Palette Knife with rounded tip about 3” in length for the flat part (this can be metal or plastic – the shape resembles a pie server)
  • Paint Palette
  • Substrate: Four of 11” x 14”, or 12” x 16”, or 12” x 12” stretched white canvases or canvas panels. You can bring a mixed selection with at least one canvas board. (For example one 11” x 14” canvas, one 12” x 12” canvas and two 12” x 14” canvas boards)
  • Container for water
  • Notepad and pen or pencil
  • 1 roll aluminum foil
  • 1 roll paper towels
  • Small spray bottle with water
  • Small spray bottle with rubbing alcohol
  • Disposable plastic gloves
  • Smock or apron

  • Kit Fee: $5.00 per student (payable to instructor at class time)
  • One-page hand out on abstract composition
  • 12 oz. container filled with texture and lid
  • Box lid with large plastic trash bag
  • Masking tape
  • Construction paper
