Description and Techniques:

From simple primitive designs to finely detailed layered patterns, we will learn to beautifully transform everyday items you already own into unique works of art for your closet or home. Learn how to create custom stencils that turn artwork, apparel and more into your own creative canvas!


• Begin with primitive stencil making in order to understand what a stencil is. This primitive shape will yield great results (We will use this stencil later in class)
• Learn to paint on paper using crafters inkpads and simple shaped stencils
• Learn about ink load on the brush and brush techniques
• Master techniques for painting fine detailed stencils on paper
• Learn to apply “ink load” knowledge to paint usage, as we create a small urban cardboard painting
• Learn to apply stencils to wood or canvas art
• Learn design layering for more depth with two-layer stencils and patterns
• Fabric stenciling –design your own tote bags and t-shirts
• Learn Ombre blending and the power of patterns – this is where we will utilize your primitive designs made at the beginning of the day!
• Free for all! Stencil anything you have brought with you and get expert guidance and advice
