Methods of Relief Printmaking (One Day Workshop)

Description: Relief printmaking is commonly known as “block printing” and relies on two surfaces, one that is higher, and one that is lower due to carving. In this workshop students will learn a variety of relief methods, focusing on carving techniques, tool usage, and printing techniques. Use of line, composition, pattern, value, and designing an image for print will also be covered.   

SPECIFIC TECHNIQUES TO BE TAUGHT: Starting with the basics on linoleum, we will look at how to prep the block, and carving techniques. Woodblock will be covered as well, including how to raise the grain for a textured background and integration with linoleum.
