FAQs

The Art Makers Denver 2020 in-person retreat has been canceled due to COVID 19, but we are excited to offer some of our workshops virtually. The dates haven’t changed but some of the workshops will not be available on this virtual platform, due to the complexity of the instruction.

Workshops will be conducted via Zoom. This conferencing tool is easy to use, but like most technology, it has its challenges. We are committed to making sure the virtual workshops run smoothly by conducting a pre-workshop trial run with everyone.

Some workshop descriptions and/or supply lists may have been altered to accommodate the virtual format, so please double check if you were already registered for a workshop that is now being offered online.

Practice Session –

On Sunday morning, July 19th between 11 am and Noon (Mountain Standard Time), we will schedule a practice Zoom meeting with all registrants to insure everyone can get the call, can hear and be heard, and can see and be seen.  We will troubleshoot any problems that arise and practice a few Zoom features that will make the session run smoother for everyone. You will be invited to these practice sessions via email by an AMD representative.  If you find you cannot make the scheduled zoom practice meeting, we will find another time to do it prior to the actual workshop.

Virtual Workshop Schedule –

On the morning of your workshop, you will receive an invitation via email from your instructor to join the Zoom meeting.  We will have an AMD representative on the call to help with any last-minute connectivity issues that might arise, but the plan is to have all of this ironed out prior to the beginning of the workshops.  Your workshop day will go somewhat like this:

(Mountain Standard Time)

9 a.m. – 11 a.m. – Instructor will meet with the whole group for orientation and get the workshop underway.

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Break for lunch

1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Instructors will work in “Breakout Rooms” mode.  This means that the students will work on their own, but the instructor will schedule breakout room times to work with each of you one-on-one.  At any time during the afternoon, you get stuck, have a question, or need direction, you can request the instructor to come back into a breakout room with you.  The instructor will be available to each student at any time throughout the afternoon.

4 p.m. – 5 p.m. – Instructors will schedule one last group meeting for critique, discussion and sharing.  Feel free to come to this meeting with your favorite cocktail or mocktail in hand!

Please keep in mind that some instructors may plan their day a little differently based on how they structure their curriculum, but it will be some combination of group and one-on-one meetings.  You will most likely be contacted by your instructor prior to the actual workshop at which time they can give you a more detailed agenda.
